Call for candidacies based on publications
in the field of neuroscience or disorders of the nervous system.
Additional guidelines
Art. 1: The candidacies
- The candidacies:
- are evaluated based on their publications during the period from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025: the final acceptance date of the publication as first author or last author is decisive.
- one (1) publication per candidate proposed by that candidate as his or her main contribution.
- one (1) candidate per university research unit or university hospital research unit.
- without age limit but who have presented their PhD thesis less than ten (10) years before the call date, so from November 15, 2015.
- The head of the laboratory or research unit:
- must confirm the decisive contribution of the candidate from his laboratory or unit.
- must confirm that the work has not been funded by any pharmaceutical or commercial industry.
Art. 2: Submitting of the candidacies
The candidacies are:
- to be submitted to the Scientific Director of the Q.E.M.F. not later than January 15, 2026 at 24 hr. (midnight):
Prof. em. dr. Jean-Marie Maloteaux.
- to be drawn up in English consisting of:
- a Curriculum Vitae (identification, education, career, and scientific research)
- the exact date of the PhD thesis acceptance
- a summary, or abstract of the published article, limited to half an A4 page of the publication. (Abstract & keywords)
- the final acceptance date of the publication
- the PDF of the publication
- the location of the performance (Belgian laboratory or university hospital)
- the written confirmation from the head of the laboratory or the department concerned (see Art 1b)
- the impact factor (IF) and the factor Q of the scientific journal in which the publication was published
- the H-index of the candidate stating the source (web of science)
- confirmation that the candidate has not received a prize from the Q.E.M.F. after 15 november 2020.
- to send:
- by e-mail to fmre.gske@skynet.be with an attached PDF document of maximum 10 MB or by WeTransfer with the application.
- The date of sending of the email is the date of receipt of the application. A confirmation of receipt will be sent.
Art. 3: The admissibility of the candidacies
- Administrative admissibility is assessed by the Scientific Committee and the Secretariat. This concerns all points in Article 2b.
- The scientific admissibility regarding the theme is evaluated by the Scientific Committee.
Art. 4: The result of the evaluations
- The deliberation will take place in early March 2026.
- The final decisions and official awarding of the Prizes are the responsibility of the Board of Directors of the Q.E.M.F. There is no appeal against their decisions.
- Feedback: Candidates whose publications are inadmissible or not selected will be informed by letter from the Chairman of the Scientific Committee.
Art. 5: The amounts of the prizes awarded
- will be transferred after the award ceremony to a bank account of the university or clinic to which the researcher is affiliated,
- remain at the disposal of the laboratory where the research was carried out if the laureate leaves,
- can cover personnel, material investment or operating costs.
Art. 6: The follow-up
A detailed expenditure overview can be requested by the donor.
